“Behold the Day! The Color Block Prints of Francis Gearhart” by Susan Futterman

Available for purchase and at a number of bookstores and museums around Los Angeles and Boston.

Arts and Crafts artists featured in articles, include: Gustave Baumann, Frances Gearhart, Harold Doolittle, Harvey Ellis, Norma Basset, Elizabeth Colborne, Margaret Patterson and M. Louis Stowell are featured in the uploaded articles from Style 1900, American Bungalow and American Art Review.

All these artists were print artists of different styles during the Arts and Crafts Period. The different styles they used were wood blocks, linoleum blocks, color blocks, etchings, aqua tints, and white line prints.

Susan Futterman is a Pasadena, CA resident entrenched in the Arts and Crafts Movement. She has curated two shows by Frances Gearhart and Gustave Baumann. While researching the catalogue she wrote for the Frances Gearhart show she uncovered an unpublished children’s book by the Gearhart’s, Frances and her sisters. “Let’s Play” was then published by The Book Club of California.
